Troy Chambers

I started studying in Karate in 1979 for self-defense purposes only. I grew up on the Southwest side of Detroit. There were times as I grew up that I had to fight more than one person at a time. I needed an edge in order to survive. I enrolled in a community center karate school. I was studying under Sensei Lee Campbell. I also trained in Akido and Isshin-Ryu with Master Willie Adams, also of Detroit. I trained with Sensei Campbell until 1985 and furthered my training with Master Tyrone Melton. At the time he had a school in Linclon Park. I received my Black Belt in 1986. I have also trained in judo/Aki Jujit-Su and Ti-Jit-Su. I feel I have taken the best of all these arts and added them to the art which I am well adapted, Isshin-Ryu. I have fought in many tournaments over the years. I have earned a rank of Yo Dan (4th Degree Black Belt, Master rank) under thej Okinawan Karate Clubs inc. (O.K.C.I.).
